Mød Sarah; studerende ved Københavns Universitet. Med en baggrund inden for idræt vidste Sarah meget om bevægelse, men hun kæmpede med at finde sko, der virkelig passede til hendes fødder. Hendes rejse med barfodssko startede ikke af nysgerrighed, men af nødvendighed.
Udfordringerne med traditionelle sko
Sarah brugte timer hver dag på at dyrke sport under sine studier, og det gav udfordringer for hendes fødder.
“Vi lavede mange timers sport hver eneste dag, og jeg blev ved med at købe nye sko – ofte næsten to numre større end min normale størrelse – for at de skulle være brede nok og ikke klemme mine tæer.”
På trods af sine anstrengelser var større sko ikke løsningen. De føltes klodsede, og hun var stadig ikke komfortabel. Hun brugte endda mange penge på at gå til en fodterapeut i håb om at finde svar.
En ny tilgang til fodtøj
Sarah hørte første gang om barfodssko gennem en ven, der var kommet hjem fra USA med dem på.
“Han introducerede mig til konceptet, og jeg blev nysgerrig. Så jeg tog til Mærkbare for at prøve mit første par.”
Hun var vant til at købe større størrelser i almindelige sko og forventede at skulle gøre det samme. Men det viste sig ikke at være tilfældet.
“Jeg prøvede en størrelse 41, fordi jeg troede, det var det, jeg havde brug for, men de var alt for store. Jeg skulle helt ned i en 39,5, og det var en rar følelse at være tilbage i min rigtige størrelse.”
Skoene gav hendes fødder plads uden at føles klodsede, og for første gang følte hun, at hendes fodtøj faktisk passede.
At bruge barfodssko i hverdagen
En af de største bekymringer folk har, når de prøver barfodssko, er, om de kræver en tilvænningsperiode. For Sarah var overgangen lettere, end hun havde forventet.
“Jeg behøvede slet ikke nogen tilvænningsperiode. Jeg tog dem bare på og begyndte at gå. Ingen vabler, ingen ubehag – bare ren komfort.”
Hun havde dem med på ferie og gik 10 kilometer i dem den første dag uden problemer. Senere tog hun dem med på en backpacking-rejse til Australien og valgte dem frem for sine sædvanlige vandresko.
Det er dog ikke noget, vi normalt anbefaler. Ikke alles fødder er klar til den slags belastning med det samme, og nogle har brug for mere tid til at vænne sig til det. Men da Sarah allerede trænede og bevægede sig meget, var hendes fødder vant til at arbejde, hvilket gjorde overgangen lettere for hende.
“Jeg oplevede simpelthen ikke den samme fodsmerte i dem, som jeg gjorde i mine almindelige sko.”
En gradvis overgang
Efter at have skiftet sine hverdagssko begyndte Sarah naturligt også at udskifte sit andet fodtøj.
“Det startede med ét par, men nu er jeg langsomt ved at udskifte alle mine sko med barfodssko.”
Hun tog ikke skiftet fra den ene dag til den anden, men integrerede gradvist barfodssko i sin hverdag. Nu er de hendes foretrukne valg.

Meet Sarah, a student at the University of Copenhagen. With a background in sports science, Sarah was no stranger to movement, but she struggled with finding shoes that truly fit her feet. Her journey with barefoot shoes started not out of curiosity but out of necessity.
The Struggle with Traditional Shoes
Sarah spent hours every day doing sports during her studies, and that came with challenges for her feet.
“We did many hours of sports every single day, and I kept buying new shoes—often nearly two sizes bigger than my usual size—just to make them wide enough and prevent them from squeezing my toes.”
Despite her efforts, larger shoes weren’t the solution. They felt clunky, and she still wasn’t comfortable. She even spent a lot of money on podiatrist visits, trying to find answers.
A New Perspective on Footwear
Sarah first heard about barefoot shoes through a friend who had returned from the U.S. wearing them.
“He introduced me to the concept, and I was curious. So I went to Mærkbare to try on my first pair.”
She had been used to sizing up in regular shoes, so she expected to need a bigger size. But that wasn’t the case.

Wearing Barefoot Shoes in Everyday Life

“I didn’t even need a break-in period. I just put them on and started walking. No blisters, no discomfort—just pure comfort.”
She wore them on vacation and walked 10 kilometers on the first day without any issues. Later, she took them on a backpacking trip to Australia, choosing them over her usual hiking shoes.
That being said, this is not something we typically recommend. Not everyone’s feet are ready for that kind of workload right away, and some people need more time to transition. But since Sarah was already training and moving a lot, her feet were used to working, which made the switch easier for her.

A Gradual Shift
After switching her everyday shoes, Sarah naturally started replacing more of her footwear.
